The primary responsibilities of this position will be providing comprehensive routine and minimally invasive dental services to meet the oral health needs of our patients and Relatives. This employee leads their team of hygienists and support staff. It is essential for dental staff at SIHB to remain flexible in a changing and growing environment.
Organizational Structure/Reporting RelationshipsThis position reports directly to the Dental Director. This position directly supervises hygienists and dental assistants and serves as backup supervision for sterilization technicians and care coordinators.

- Provide culturally attuned dental care services to SIHB dental patients at the SIHB International District clinic and the Mobile Dental Clinic.
- Comply with federal and state guidelines, internal dental policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including those related to reducing the spread of COVID-19.
- Assist in the development and implementation of services to meet the needs of patients and Relatives.
- Participate in quality improvement and reviews.
- Assist with the supervision of dental students in preceptorships and dental assistant students participating in externships, as approved by Dental Director/Chief Health Officer/CEO.
- Participate in dental on-call rotation.
- Complete all charting within 24 hours of patient encounter.
- Actively participate in internal quality improvement teams and work with members proactively to drive quality improvement initiatives in accordance with the mission and strategic goals of the organization, federal and state laws and regulations, and accreditation standards, when assigned.
- Other job-related duties as assigned.
- Graduate of an accredited dental school.
- Current license in Washington State with no restrictions.
- Possess a valid DEA unrestricted license.
- Team-oriented with good primary diagnostic and treatment care.
- Familiarity with the health and social issues facing the American Indian/Alaska Native population and a desire to serve our population.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication/documentation skills.
- Strong computer skills.
- Experience with minimally invasive dentistry techniques.
SIHB is staffed Monday through Friday from 7am-6pm, with two Saturdays a month for Pediatric Clinic. Dental clinical hours are 8am - 5pm with a 1-hour lunch break.
Dentists primarily staff the International District Clinic and rotate through the Mobile Dental Clinic, determined by scheduling needs. SIHB clinicians work 4-10 hours shifts per week to allow…
