It is the School of Dentistry's largest department, with the greatest number of faculty, and courses within the curriculum. The Department of Restorative Dentistry includes the disciplines of Operative Dentistry, Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics, Implantology, Dental Materials Science, Dental Anatomy and Occlusion and the Advanced Education Program in Prosthodontics. The Department of Restorative Dentistry at the UW is seeking a full-time (1.0 FTE) Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice in Prosthodontics. The appointment is not tenure eligible. The appointment length is up to 5 years, with one to 3 years as the standard initial appointment. There are no limits on the number of reappointments. The position is eligible for promotion within the Clinical Practice track.
The primary duties of this position include serving as Course Director or Co-course Director for removable prosthodontics courses. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive coverage of the 3rd and 4th year dental clinics and deliver lectures to dental students throughout the predoctoral curriculum.
This position will be expected to engage in effective clinical and didactic teaching. Positive factors for consideration include, but are not limited to, strong interpersonal skills, accountability, leadership, teaching experience in removable prosthodontics and digital dentistry workflow. Scholarship engagement and service are also expected.
Qualifications
Minimum requirements include a DDS/DMD degree or foreign equivalent, and completion of a post-graduate program in Prosthodontics accredited by the ADA CODA or the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada (CDAC). Candidates must be board-eligible in Prosthodontics and eligible for licensure to practice dentistry in the State of Washington.
The base salary range for this position will be $10,833 - $12,500 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
