Job SummaryThe Dental Assistant is responsible for providing support to dentists during patient procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow in the dental office. This role involves preparing patients for treatments, sterilizing and organizing dental instruments, assisting with dental procedures, and providing patient education. The Dental Assistant will work closely with the dental team to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for patients and ensure that all dental procedures are performed according to established protocols.
Job Responsibilities Patient Care and Assistance- Prepare patients for dental procedures by taking medical histories, verifying information, and ensuring patient comfort.
- Assist dentists during examinations and dental treatments by providing necessary tools, suction, and other equipment.
- Take and develop dental X-rays as needed, ensuring accurate and clear images.
- Provide chairside support during procedures, including restorative, surgical, and preventative treatments.
- Monitor patients’ comfort and provide reassurance during procedures.
- Sterilize dental instruments and equipment according to infection control protocols.
- Ensure the proper handling, storage, and maintenance of dental equipment and instruments.
- Prepare treatment rooms by setting up necessary instruments, materials, and supplies for dental procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized dental work environment to comply with health and safety regulations.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions.
- Provide patients with information about dental procedures, addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
- Assist patients with scheduling follow-up appointments and provide reminders for upcoming visits.
- Maintain patient records, including documenting procedures, treatment plans, and patient progress.
- Process patient billing and insurance claims, as well as assist with coordinating payments.
- Ensure that patient records and X-rays are filed and maintained in accordance with confidentiality and privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
- Assist with the front office, including scheduling appointments, answering phones, and providing administrative support when needed.
- Ensure compliance with dental practice laws, regulations, and infection control protocols.
