Seattle Roots Community Health is a not-for-profit organization that operates two primary care clinics, an After-Hours Clinic, two School-Based Health Centers, a low barrier Medication-assisted treatment clinic and a Dental Clinic. Our Carolyn Downs Family Medical Center was founded in 1970 in Seattle's Central District. Our Country Doctor Community Clinic was established in 1971 by residents of the Capitol Hill neighborhood.

Job Summary

The Dentist is responsible for providing comprehensive dental care to patients, including performing diagnostic, preventive, restorative, and therapeutic procedures. This role involves diagnosing oral health conditions, developing treatment plans, performing dental surgeries, educating patients on oral hygiene, and maintaining patient comfort throughout treatment. The Dentist will work closely with the dental team to ensure high-quality patient care and contribute to a positive and welcoming dental environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and complex dental procedures, including exams, cleanings, fillings, crowns, bridges, root canals, and extractions.
  • Diagnose oral health conditions such as cavities, gum disease, and oral cancer, and develop appropriate treatment plans.
  • Educate patients about proper oral hygiene techniques, disease prevention, and the importance of regular dental checkups.
  • Take and analyze dental X-rays to diagnose conditions and develop treatment plans.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate patient records, ensuring all information complies with HIPAA regulations.
  • Keep up-to-date patient charts, including treatment plans, progress notes, and any referrals or follow-up care instructions.
  • Ensure that all patient concerns and questions are addressed promptly and thoroughly.
  • Provide preventive services such as fluoride treatments and sealants to protect teeth from decay.
  • Monitor and manage patient pain and anxiety throughout dental treatments, ensuring a comfortable experience.
  • Perform periodontal treatments such as scaling and root planning and assist in managing gum disease.
  • Work closely with dental hygienists, assistants, and other team members to deliver efficient and effective patient care.
  • Assist in the training and mentoring of junior dental staff, ensuring they are familiar with clinic policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with front office staff to manage patient appointments, referrals, and follow-up care.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of treatment and patient interactions.
  • Participate in staff meetings, offering input on clinic policies and patient care improvements.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a practicing dentist preferred, but new graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of dental procedures, equipment, and materials.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to educate and support patients.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent manual dexterity and precision.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods during clinical procedures.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate with dentists and other staff members.
