Health Administrator Chelan-Douglas Health District East Wenatchee, Washington Salary : $150,000 - $165,000
The Wenatchee Valley in north central Washington is surrounded by the natural beauty of the Cascade Mountains and the Columbia River and enjoys more than its fair share of sunshine. Its natural beauty and recreational opportunities are among the primary reasons people come to visit and choose to live there. With an urban area of approximately 80,000 people, the Wenatchee Valley offers a balance of larger-city amenities and the relaxed, friendly environment of a smaller community.
The wine industry in the region has grown significantly, with more than 70 wineries and tasting rooms offering award-winning wines. The region remains closely connected to the Seattle metropolitan area, approximately a two-and-a-half-hour drive or a short flight across the Cascade Range. Spokane and the Tri-Cities are also within approximately two and a half hours, placing much of Washington within a morning’s trip.
The Chelan-Douglas Health District is the local public health agency serving residents and communities throughout Chelan and Douglas Counties. The District operates with approximately 45 FTEs and an adopted 2026 program expense budget of approximately $7 million, and is governed by a 12-member Board of Health. Chelan-Douglas Health District provides a broad range of programs and regulatory services through Community & Family Health, Environmental Health, Communicable Disease & Epidemiology, Emergency Preparedness, Communications, Administration, and Vital Statistics.
Services include disease surveillance and investigation, immunizations, WIC nutrition services, the Nurse Family Partnership program, maternal and child health, chronic disease and injury prevention, food safety and restaurant inspections, oversight of pools and onsite septic systems, drinking water and solid waste regulation, emergency preparedness, community health assessment, and the issuance of birth and death certificates.
Reporting directly to the Chelan-Douglas Board of Health, the Health Administrator serves as the District’s chief administrative leader and is responsible for implementing Board policies and priorities. The Administrator provides organizational direction, oversees District operations and public health services, and works in partnership with the appointed Health Officer to ensure compliance with applicable public health laws and regulations. The position leads the District’s management team, guides budgeting and financial administration, oversees grants and contracts, and supports personnel and labor relations.
As a visible representative of the District, the Administrator builds relationships with residents, local governments, healthcare providers, community organizations, state agencies, and regional public health partners.
