Position: Architect.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare architectural sketches and study models.
  • Assist in contract administration and quality assurance inspection of construction projects.
  • Assist in the analysis of problems based on field investigations or studies of construction and design conditions, and recommend the most feasible and economical methods of solution.
  • Review architectural shop drawings for accuracy, completeness and compliance with contract specifications.
  • Assist in proposing methods for repairing, restoring, and improving existing facilities.
Requirements
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must sign a mobility agreement if selected.
  • Must sign an Army Fellows Participant Agreement if selected.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre‑Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
Qualifications
  • Basic Requirement for Architect:
    • Degree:
      Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in architecture or a related field that includes 60 semester hours of course work in architecture or related disciplines, with at least 30 semester hours in architectural design and 6 semester hours each in structural technology, properties of materials and methods of construction, and environmental control systems.
    • Degree must be completed by June 2026.
  • Combination of

    Education and Experience:
    • College‑level education, training, and/or technical experience providing:
      • A thorough knowledge of the arts and sciences underlying professional architecture.
      • A good understanding of architectural principles, methods, and techniques for design and construction or improvement of buildings.
    • Adequacy demonstrated by:
      • Related curriculum:
        Degree in architectural engineering providing equivalent coursework.
      • Experience:

        One year of experience in an architect’s office or in architectural work for each year short of graduation; a minimum of 5 years in absence of college courses.
  • One year of specialized experience in:
    • Preparing architectural sketches and study models; or
    • Reviewing architectural shop drawings for accuracy and compliance; or
    • Assisting in analysis of problems and recommending solutions.
  • Educational pathways:
    • One full year of graduate‑level education (or completion by June 2026) in a relevant field such as Architecture.
    • Superior Academic Achievement:
      Successful completion of a bachelor’s degree with superior academic achievement, defined by class standing (upper third), GPA (≥3.0), or honor society membership.
    • Five‑year Architecture Program:
      Completion of a program of at least 160 semester hours leading to a bachelor’s degree in Architecture.
  • Foreign

    Education:
    • Credentials must be evaluated by a private organization or credited by a U.S. accredited institution to be deemed equivalent.
