Sr Project Architect; Healthcare - Seattle

In partnership with the Sr. Project Manager and Sr. Project Designer, you will be accountable for project financial performance and team communication. You will be responsible for the issuance and content of deliverables, the technical content of HOK documents, and the coordination of disciplines, including consultants, while supervising all staff producing documents. You will have primary responsibility for the implementation of Construction Phase Services in collaboration with the PM, for securing QA reviews, and for implementing comments.

Must be a licensed architect and is responsible for signing/sealing drawings. You will participate in and contribute to a culture of technical excellence.

• Ensure the overall design intent of the project established by the Sr. Project Designer is incorporated into the detailed documentation.
• Monitor the design process from conceptual phase through construction administration, ensuring the design idea is consistent and properly executed.
• Provide technical resolution and coordination for a defined portion of a project.
• Work with the Specification Writer to develop specifications and coordinate drawings and specifications.
• Check completed reports, plans, estimates and calculations for accuracy.
• Set the overall strategy for producing the documents, identify the sheets planned for each stage of the work, and define how data will be organized into files and which elements will be incorporated in a Building Information Model (BIM).
• Set up project team software parameters and manage standards.
• Foster and maintain a collaborative professional working relationship with the Project Leadership Team.
• Communicate with other disciplines, vendors, and contractors to ensure incorporation of all information into project requirements and provide support as necessary.
• Ensure that construction detail documentation conforms to quality assurance, quality control and best practice standards.
• Supervise preparation of technical drawings by less senior level architects or technicians.
• Perform as team leader on certain projects.
• Mentor and direct the work of less experienced staff, participate in professional development reviews and “Lessons Learned” sessions.
• Takes personal responsibility for fostering a green workplace through sustainable work practices.
• Foster a commitment to external and internal client service.

• Develop a positive relationship of trust with client leadership.
• Communicate regularly with client representatives to verify design requirements and specifications, progress reviews, and delivery of final presentation.

• Receive project direction from the Principal in Charge and technical direction from the RBU Technical Principal.
• Coordinate use and track shared electronic documentation and files with project team, clients, and consultants.
• Assist in planning and conducting work, making minor adaptations and modifications to complete working drawing sets.
• Meet with municipal building departments and other governing agency officials to coordinate approvals or variances.
• Write reports and memos to consultants and vendors to issue changes and track resolutions.
• Provide technical support and project communications to the team as required.
• Attend on‑site visits, field reviews, and project meetings; prepare and coordinate the review of contractor schedules, submission of shop drawings and samples.
• Assist the Specification Writer in product research, consulting with manufacturers, evaluating and selecting project‑related materials.
• Participate in specification set‑up and drawing coordination, research and appropriate use of HOK Standards.
