Wage Range: D2 = $72,300 – $89,100 / A2 = $85,000 – $106,000

SMR Architects is seeking a Designer 2 / Architect 2 individual to join our practice in Pioneer Square, Seattle. You’ll work closely with principals and project managers on affordable housing and community-focused projects, contributing to design, documentation, consultant coordination, construction administration, and client meetings while receiving mentorship throughout the process.

We are looking for someone who brings the following qualifications:

  • an accredited architectural degree with 6 or more years of professional experience
  • experience with multi-family housing and/or renovation & historic preservation
  • experience across multiple phases of design, from schematic design through construction administration
  • comprehensive understanding of building, accessibility, energy and land use codes
  • proficiency in Revit; experience with Bluebeam/Revu, and Enscape
  • self-motivated, curious and eager to learn
  • strong collaboration and communication skills
  • proactive problem solving, negotiation and consultation skills

Responsibilities may include:

  • overall design for small projects under a principal, or for significant portions of a large project under a project manager.
  • responsible for code diagrams, research, and calculations
  • permitting activities including responding to corrections and submittals
  • communication with clients, consultants and permit officials
  • assist and direct staff to prepare drawings, specifications, models, images and other deliverables relating to the design
  • create redline markups, and incorporate redline corrections
  • may represent SMR and / or present project at public meetings
  • review pay application, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and contractor’s change proposals.
