Store Designer, Grocery Real Estate

Amazon's Worldwide Grocery Stores is seeking a Store Designer to join the Retail Growth & Development, Enterprise team. This role drives multiple projects throughout all phases of design, permitting, and construction administration. We are looking for people who want to join an ambitious, innovative and customer-obsessed program.

• Manage the design process, interfacing with internal and external design partners.
• Adapt site-specific conditions metrics and standards to store designs.
• Build data-driven scope of work with internal stakeholders, focused on servicing operating stores.
• Develop FF&E and décor packages.
• Work with internal and external stakeholders in the development and production of comprehensive design development packages.
• Create presentation packages to communicate design with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
• Drive and create Schematic Design Packages.
• Coordinate with Construction, Procurement and Operations Teams on budget and schedule considerations and value engineering.
• Manage consultants through all phases of design and the project lifecycle.
• Provide Construction Administrative support as needed.
• Archive completed drawings, redlines, and shop drawings.
• Obtain landlord approvals per lease requirements.
• Review and approve submittals and shop drawings.
• Understand building and health codes, 3D visualization, and industry trends.
• Communicate design vision in visual, written, and verbal formats.
• Manage multiple simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrate a solutions-oriented, proactive, and flexible approach with an “all hands-on deck” mindset.

This position will work closely with cross-functional teams, external consultants, and vendors throughout the store development process. Oversight of consultant performance is critical. This role communicates with business partners at every level, including leadership.

We enhance the shopping experience by modernizing store layout, improving operational efficiency, and implementing the latest technology, while stores remain open for business. Our customer-obsessed design approach focuses on creating seamless shopping experiences for both in-store and online customers, while ensuring our operations teams can work safely and efficiently during and after remodels.

We specialize in executing complex renovations that elevate the Amazon experience across our established store network.

• Experience managing multiple complex projects and adapting to change
• Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents
• Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Interior Design
• 5+ years of commercial retail design or architecture experience

• Experience with end-to-end ownership of major project deliverables
• Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and MS Office Suite
• Grocery or Retail Experience
• Architectural or Interior Design FF&E Experience
