Job Summary and Responsibilities

The Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Virginia Mason Medical Center is seeking an experienced, full-time surgical Physician Assistant to join our team. This position involves collaborative work within a multidisciplinary clinic and is led by three surgeons serving patients in the Seattle, Bellevue and Federal Way communities. The new hire will join our existing team comprised of 3 plastic reconstructive surgeons as well as 2 experienced PAs in the section.

The practice is 80% reconstructive and 20% cosmetic. We cover the breadth of plastic surgery including breast reconstruction, microsurgery, body contouring, melanoma care, hand surgery, cancer reconstruction, and a variety of cosmetic procedures.

The Physician Assistant will be primarily based in downtown Seattle at the Virginia Mason Medical Center, with occasional support at one of our Regional Medical Centers. Responsibilities include assisting in the operating room, participating in outpatient clinics, inpatient and ED consultations, and management of an inpatient service. Under the direction of the supervising physicians, the PA will be involved in all aspects of patient care including the development of treatment plans, coordination of care, and the management of pre and postoperative care.

While work schedules are planned in advance whenever possible, scheduling variations may occur due to the coverage needs of the service. The PA may be asked to work variable hours and/or provide backup coverage as needed.
