Description

The University of Washington (UW) Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology is seeking applicants for a full-time (1.0 FTE) position at the Montlake and Northwest campuses of the University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC) .This position will be hired at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Professor on the Clinical Practice track. These positions are non-tenure eligible. Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described inUW’s Faculty Code Section 24-34 .Assistant,

Associate, or Professors of Clinical Practice are eligible for aninitial appointment period of three years, at a minimum, with eligibility for renewal thereafter that aligns with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

The anticipated start date would be Summer 2027, but this is flexible.

University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.

Clinical duties will be based primarily at University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC) attending on the inpatient nephrology consult service on the Northwest and Montlake campuses, outpatient general nephrology and/or subspecialty clinics, and/or delivering care in community-based dialysis units. The number of weeks on consult service, the number of outpatient clinics, and extent of participation in dialysis care will be based on the need and at the discretion of the Section Head and Division Head.

Although this position’s clinical focus will be on general nephrology, we expect the person in this position will develop subspecialty interest and expertise in women’s health and kidney disease.

In addition to clinical work, teaching, scholarship, and service are integral to all Clinical Practice positions. This position will also participate in divisional teaching and academic conferences as assigned, such as presenting annually at grand rounds conference.

The base salary range for this position will be as follows:

Assistant professors: $18,000- $20,500 per month ($216,000-$246,000 annually)

Associate Professors: $21,000 – $26,500 per month ($252,000-$318,000 annually)

Professors: $25,000 - $30,000 per month ($300,000-$360,000 annually) commensurate with experience, rank and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations.

Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Other Compensation

Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through UW Physicians practice plan and Semi-Annual Additional Compensation (SAAC)

Qualifications

Applicants must have a MD (or foreign equivalent) and be ABIM board-certified or eligible in Nephrology (or foreign equivalent). They must also have completed an ACGME accredited nephrology fellowship (or foreign equivalent) and must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Washington. Successful candidates should demonstrate outstanding clinical and teaching skills.
