The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Cardiology at the University of Washington invites applications for two faculty positions at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor without tenure due to funding, with an anticipated start date of July, 2027. We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community.

The successful candidate will join our faculty on a full-time basis for a twelve-month appointment. (Assistant Professors are eligible for a 3-year term eligible for renewal beginning July 1, 2030.

Candidates will be considered across a range of interests in Pediatric Cardiology.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

• Provide care of patients with congenital heart defects (CHDs) from neonates to young adults, as well as acquired conditions (e.g., Kawasaki disease, myocarditis, rheumatic heart disease, arrhythmias).
• Management of acute cardiac patients in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and cardiac wards.
• Conduct comprehensive outpatient longitudinal evaluations and cardiology counseling.
• Identify indications and provide basic interpretation of diagnostic cardiac catheterizations , basic electrophysiology (EP) studies , advanced cardiac imaging ( Cardiac MRI and CT), and non - invasive imaging .

Clinical Care:

• Participates in outpatient, inpatient cardiology and consultation. Provides excellent clinical care and in the process, supports safe, efficient and high-quality services.
• Applicants will have the option to choose a primarily outpatient focused clinical model or a primarily inpatient focused clinical model.
• Ensures appropriate coordination and integration with other services in the care of their patients.
• Engages with consultants and other providers in a multi-disciplinary model of care.
• Explain complex congenital anatomy , surgical / interventional pathways , and long - term prognoses to families ."

Planning:

• Works with administrative and clinical leaders to support quality and performance improvement to ensure that program goals are attained.
• Participates in task forces and committees, as applicable to Service line or Seattle Children’s leadership.

Regulatory:

• Supports timely review of any patient safety events.
• Responds in a timely manner to physician or patient related feedback or complaints.
• Supports legal, regulatory and accreditation requirements.
• Supports and participates in M&M program, Quality Improvement initiatives, and identifies opportunities for improvement
• Provides input to continuing education activities designed to maintain and enhance competencies
• Maintains professionalism with regards to billing, documentation, conference attendance and collaboration with peers, trainees, staff, patients and families.

Research:

• Identifies opportunities and actively participate in scientific investigations and collaborations.
• Maintains academic productivity commensurate for rank and for the Clinician-Scholar.

Education:

• Supports cardiac clinical educational programs for medical students, residents, fellows, APPs, and nursing.
• Participates and contributes to quality improvement projects and/or curriculum development.
