UW Assistant or Associate Professor; WOT; Pediatric Orthopaedic Neuromuscular Surgeon

The University of Washington Department of Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine and Seattle Children’s Hospital have an outstanding opportunity for a full-time pediatric orthopaedic surgeon with a focus on orthopaedic care of children with pediatric neuromuscular conditions. This is an academic position within the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine at the University of Washington. Appointment will be made at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor rank (without tenure (WOT) due to funding) depending on qualifications.

The majority of School of Medicine faculty hired in the professorial track are hired under the WOT designation. Faculty appointed WOT have the same rights, responsibilities, and obligations as tenure-track and tenured faculty members at those ranks. However, faculty appointed as WOT do not hold tenure because all or part of their annual University-administered salary is derived from sources other than regularly appropriated state funds.

Clinical responsibilities include participation in the pediatric orthopaedic and rehabilitation program, assisting with general pediatric orthopaedics and pediatric orthopaedic trauma.

Overall compensation is a combination of base salary plus other compensation. Base compensation is only one component of total compensation. The base salary range for this position is at: $30,834- – $38,334 per month ($370,008-$460,008 annually) dependent on Assistant or Associate Professor rank and qualifications. The salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by CUMG practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Other compensation associated with this position will include Monthly Additional Compensation (MAC) and Semi-Annual Additional Compensation (SAAC) through the CUMG practice plan.

This position has a flexible start date in the winter of 2026. Assistant Professors (WOT) are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Associate Professors (WOT) hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11-months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.
