** DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
** Located at UW Medical Center – Montlake, our specialty clinic has fellowship-trained surgeons, who assess and treat all head and neck conditions.

Our specialists care for patients with otology and vestibular disorders, nasal obstruction and breathing issues, chronic sinusitis, tumors at the base of the skull and laryngeal conditions, as well as patients needing head and neck surgery or facial plastic and reconstructive surgery.

Often the causes of such disorders are not immediately evident so the team’s clinical experience with diagnostic tools is vital to setting out a treatment plan that has the best likelihood of success.

** PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
*** Uses ability to triage medical information in the Heart Institute department within Surgical Specialties to a variety of Health Care Professionals using effective oral and written communication
* Works independently under the general direction of a physician or their designee
* Coordinate pre- and post-surgery diagnostic procedures, tests, and follow-up patient appointments
* Act as a liaison between patients, consulting physician, referring physician, or outside agency to coordinate patient appointments, admission, anesthesia, and surgery.
* Obtain all necessary medical records, diagnostic studies, pathology items, etc., that are needed for patient care
* Demonstrates the ability to be organized and effectively prioritizes work tasks for the needs of the clinic.
* Requests interpreters as appropriate for appointments, admissions, and surgery.
* Collaborate with all members of the clinic team to ensure exceptional patient care and satisfaction.
* Perform other duties as assigned    
** REQUIREMENTS
* ** A Bachelor’s degree in a medically related or public relations field, AND
* Two (2) years experience in a tertiary patient care setting involving interaction with a variety of medical services, contact with patients and families, interaction with physicians, and proficiency in medical terminology;
* OR Equivalent education/experience
* Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification
