Position Overview

The Vice Principal of Academics oversees the academic program and ensures high standards of teaching and learning. This role supports faculty development, curriculum alignment, and student success. The Vice Principal of Academics is a member of the administrative team working collaboratively to plan, coordinate, and advance overall school operations.

This role begins August 1, 2026. The role is an 11-month contract.

Key Responsibilities Curriculum & Instruction
  • Lead curriculum development, review, and revision across departments.
  • Ensure alignment with college readiness requirements and accreditation expectations.
  • Promote effective instructional strategies and assessment practices.
Faculty Support & Professional Development
  • Mentor teachers through classroom observations, coaching, and evaluations.
  • Support academic department chairs.
  • Organize professional development opportunities aligned with school goals.
  • Assist in hiring and onboarding academic personnel.
  • Supervises personnel in Academic office, registrar, counseling, academic support, and library.
Academic Operations
  • Oversee grade reporting, academic records, attendance, and scheduling.
  • Support academic support services, school counselors, and college counselors.
  • Coordinate standardized testing and data analysis.
  • Manage textbook selection and textbook sale.
  • Collaborate on Admissions processes with the Head of School and Admissions team.
Academic Integrity & Culture
  • Uphold policies related to academic honesty and expectations of students.
Skills and Competencies
  • Demonstrated experience working with students, teachers, and parents, building strong relationships and holding them to high standards and expectations.
  • Content knowledge of high school academics and college prep programs.
  • Organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and culturally responsive school environment.
  • Ability to work and communicate well with all levels of faculty and staff, students, and parents.
  • Adaptability, punctuality, flexibility, maturity, and enthusiasm.

Qualifications Required
  • Education:

    Master’s degree in an education-related field
  • Experience:

    5-7 years of experience in education
Preferred
  • Washington State teaching and/or administrator certification
  • Experience in leadership position at the high school level
  • Experience with block scheduling
