Summary
King County Parks is excited to seek a temporary Teen Environmental Pathways Program Manager (Educator Consultant III) to join the Parks Volunteer Program team! This dynamic role will play a key part in managing and delivering the 2026 Youth Conservation Corps (YCC), a paid summer internship that empowers high school students to explore the environment, public lands, environmental justice, and career pathways in these fields.
This is an especially exciting time to join the team as the program moves into a new phase of growth, permanently expanding to a two-cohort model after the successful pilot of a second program location last summer.
About the Role:
This role will oversee the Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) program team to ensure a successful Summer 2026 season. Following the addition of a second YCC cohort in Summer 2025, the program has expanded in size, skill, and capacity and now operates at two locations-White Center and Skyway. This position will manage a passionate and growing team, overseeing both cohorts to ensure they are well supported and achieving intended outcomes.
As the program continues to grow, this role will also share program coordinator responsibilities and be prepared to facilitate in the field as needed.
In the fall, after the conclusion of summer programming, the focus will shift to planning and implementing the YCC Teen Leads Program and coordinating school partnership events. The YCC Teen Leads Program is an optional extension of YCC in which interns support Saturday community restoration events. The team also supports school-based restoration projects and develops educational events for local schools. We are seeking a candidate with experience managing education teams who can build on existing processes while ensuring consistency across programs.
This position follows a hybrid work model, blending remote and in-person work.
This temporary role is anticipated to last about eight months.
In addition to the current opening, this recruitment may be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates to fill future Educator Consultant III (career service or term-limited temporary) vacancies within the Parks Division over the next six months.
About the Team:
Housed within the Community Investments and Engagement (CIE) section, the King County Parks Volunteer Program is a small, collaborative team dedicated to connecting the public with our lands through hands-on community engagement, direct environmental service, and youth programming. We achieve this by fostering a supportive and trusting team culture, building meaningful partnerships, and prioritizing place-based, locally relevant learning.
