Prekindergarten Instructional Assistant
Hours:Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Job Summary:St. Pius X Catholic School is seeking a caring and enthusiastic Pre-Kindergarten Instructional Assistant to join our early learning team! This role is essential in supporting the lead teacher and creating a nurturing, caring environment where young learners grow socially, emotionally, and academically. The ideal candidate will provide hands‑on assistance with classroom activities, student supervision, and daily routines while fostering a joyful and engaging learning atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist the Pre-Kindergarten lead teacher in implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum.
- Supervise and engage with Pre-K students in a safe, structured, and supportive environment.
- Foster a warm and inclusive classroom that supports social‑emotional development.
- Help lead fun, age‑appropriate activities, including art, music, movement, and outdoor play.
- Provide individualized support to students as needed.
- Assist children with snack time, transitions, and self‑care routines.
- Ensure classroom organization, cleanliness, and preparation of learning materials.
- Encourage positive behavior and assist with classroom management strategies.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, students, and families to support student success.
- Follow Archdiocesan Safe Environment training requirements and Washington state childcare regulations for school staff.
- Experience working with young children (ages 3-5) in a school or childcare setting preferred.
- Patience, creativity, and a passion for early childhood education.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage small groups of children in a structured yet playful learning environment.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- $21/hour to $28/hour
- Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications.
