Opportunity Description

North Seattle College is looking to hire an Early Childhood Educator 3 in Childcare under Student Services.

Salary Range for this position is $54,432-$73,236 annually.

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Childcare Center Associate Director, the Early Childhood Specialist 3 is a lead teacher position that works under general direction and has responsibility for regularly assigning, instructing, and checking work of student employees, interns, volunteers, and substitutes in the classroom and/or has responsibility for the daily operation of an early childhood program in the absence of the manager.

Responsibilities include:

  • Establish & maintain a safe, healthy and developmentally appropriate learning environment for toddlers and preschoolers.
  • Regularly plan, present & evaluate educational & recreational children’s activities.
  • Communicate with and provide information to parents/guardians.
  • Develop & maintain a classroom environment that meets child care licensing regulations & applicable policies and procedures.

This position supervises work‑study students, volunteers, substitutes, parent/guardians in the classroom, and observers.

This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by WFSE.

Through close quarterly and daily collaboration within our entire team, our lead teachers work together and rotate leading activities and lessons with all the children aged 18 months to 5 years old. We provide on‑site parent education opportunities through our campus Parent Education program and a practicum placement site for college students taking courses through our campus’s Early Childhood Education program. Lead teachers mentor part‑time student workers, helping them to develop professionalism, skills in intercultural communication, and how to facilitate an age‑appropriate environment.

This position is full‑time, working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, primarily 7:45 am to 4:45 pm.

This position works 100% of the time on‑site.

Work Schedule:

This is a cyclic, 11‑month per year appointment, with scheduled/intermittent unpaid leave during the calendar year when the College is closed. This position is typically scheduled to work Monday through Friday 7:45 AM to 4:45 PM. The schedule may vary depending on program needs. May be required to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Be punctual and maintain consistent attendance (90% required).
