PositionSummary
Part-time faculty will teach Human Development Course 101 (HDC 101):
Orientation to College. Successful applicants may be invited to an interview at North Seattle College. Specific teaching schedules and modalities will be dependent on the instructor's background, scheduling, and available courses. This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by AFT-Seattle and is subject to union shop provisions. The salary range for part-time faculty is $7,110.33 - $10,649.33 (P1: A1-E7) for a 5-credit single-class workload per quarter.
Credits for this course may vary, and the pay range will be adjusted accordingly.
- Teach Human Development Course (HDC 101) embedded in a First Year Experience (FYE) Program and participate in opportunities for collaborative curriculum adaptation.
- Complete institutional progress surveys, utilize Starfish retention tools, and proactively outreach to students to encourage engagement and success.
- Attend human development course training and participate in the FYE teaching community.
- Follow established course outlines, maintain course syllabus and Canvas shell, generate lesson plans, and assess learning of course objectives.
- Provide timely feedback to students, maintain accurate records, submit course evaluations, and follow NSC academic guidelines.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Master's degree from an accredited institution.
- Experience teaching evidence-based academic success strategies or other college success topics.
- Demonstrated commitment to helping diverse students from traditionally underserved populations progress toward their academic goals.
- Experience developing, implementing, evaluating and adjusting curriculum to increase student retention and academic completion. Experience using technology, collaborative learning, or other innovative teaching methods.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others in a professional setting.
- Coursework or professional practice in learning theory or related topics such as academic skill development, meta-cognition, or diversity and ethics.
- An attached resume outlining your educational and teaching experience.
- List of courses taught by college and year/quarter (Word file or Excel file).
- An attached cover letter addressing how you meet the duties, responsibilities, and requirements for the position.
