Position: Co-Preschool Teacher & Co-Toddler Teacher (English/Spanish)

MARS Early Learning Academy is a learning based education center looking for a qualified Lead Preschool Teacher with an Initial ECE Certificate, to join our growing team.

Position Summary

The Co-Preschool and Co-Toddler Teacher is responsible for developing a cohesive teaching team, coordinating the curriculum, and managing the day-to-day operational activities of all classrooms. Teachers must understand children’s cognitive, social, emotional and physical development to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment, where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed. The Co-Preschool and Co-Toddler Teacher must be skilled in communication with both children and adults, to meet the needs of the children, effectively guide teacher assistants, and resolve parental concerns.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and implement educational curriculum by developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards.
  • Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental, and social development, such as games, arts and crafts, music, storytelling, and field trips.
  • Lead by example, encourage teaching team success through modeling and coaching.
  • Experience implementing the creative curriculum and teaching strategies gold assessment tools.
  • Plan individual and group age appropriate activities to actively engage children, and encourage social, cognitive, and emotional growth.
  • Teach basic skills, such as color, shape, number and letter recognition, personal hygiene, and social skills.
  • Observe and evaluate children’s performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
  • Attend to children’s basic needs by feeding them, dressing them, and changing their diapers (if needed).
  • Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate, and use, both in learning activities and in imaginative play.
  • Serve meals and snacks in accordance with nutritional guidelines.
  • Teach proper eating habits and personal hygiene.
  • Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.
  • Enforce all administrative policies and rules, governing students.
  • Identify children showing signs of emotional, developmental, or health related problems, and discuss them with your supervisors, parents or guardians, and child development specialist.
  • Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children’s progress and needs, disturb determine their priorities for their children, and suggest ways that they can promote learning development.
  • Maintain accurate records forms and files.
  • Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality and improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Professional development – Continuing education in Early Childhood Education and annual STARS training.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • Bachelors degree preferred.
  • Initial ECE Certificate required or in process.
  • Three years of related experience or relevant coursework.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance, individual differences in ability, personality, and interest, learning and motivation.
  • Selecting and using training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new things.

Schedule
  • 8 Hour Shift, Monday to Friday
  • Shifts for this position would either be: 8am - 5pm, 8:30am to 5:30pm, or 9am to 6pm. We do not have any shifts open or available that start prior to 8am.
