Title: Assistant, Associate or Full Professor WOT, Palliative Care

Position Description

The successful assistant, associate or full professor will provide clinical service, teach, and conduct research in palliative care as part of the Clinical Research Division and one of the following University of Washington departments:
Medicine, Family Medicine, Anesthesiology, Rehabilitation Medicine, Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, or Surgery. The position is full‑time, no‑tenure, and awarded a service appointment aligned to a 12‑month cycle.

Responsibilities include clinical care in outpatient and/or inpatient palliative care services; supervision of fellows; teaching lectures and informal sessions to learners, providers, and the general medical community; and active participation in research, for which externally funded grants or clinical trials are expected.

Qualifications

Applicants must have an MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent), board certification or eligibility in Hospice and Palliative Medicine, and must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Washington. While primary training in internal medicine is preferred, candidates with training in family medicine, anesthesiology, rehabilitation medicine, psychiatry, surgery, or other areas may apply. The successful applicant will be board certified in their primary area of training and will have a record of and primary interest in palliative care research, demonstrated by peer‑reviewed publications, grants, and/or clinical trial experience and experience teaching palliative care learners.

  • Concise (maximum 1 page) statement of career goals including a description of clinical research goals.
  • 1 page Mentorship and Training statement addressing:
    What is your mentorship philosophy and approach, and what has informed them? Please describe specific actions you have taken or plan to take to create a collaborative and effective training and mentorship environment in which all trainees and staff can thrive.
  • List of three to five references (references will not be contacted without first discussing this with the applicant).
  • This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship. Applicants must already be authorized to work in the US and not require sponsorship now or in the future.

    Note:

    This position is paid directly by Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center and receives no UW compensation. Please refer to Fred Hutch for information about compensation for this position.
