Job OverviewThis role is a non‑teaching position focused on motivation and life‑skill development for K‑8 students at Alpha School.
Responsibilities- Facilitate one‑hour life‑skills workshops for K‑8 cohorts on topics such as public speaking, focus, and feedback, modifying the existing playbook and creating new sessions as needed.
- Conduct daily individual and small‑group motivation sessions to push students toward their weekly app targets, using Coachbot analytics, school currency, and leaderboards.
- Administer Alpha’s mastery‑based life‑skills assessment (Test2
Pass) and coach students until they achieve passing scores. - Adjust coaching approaches across age groups from kindergarten to eighth grade, applying movement‑based engagement for younger students and direct accountability for older ones.
- Analyze weekly cohort performance metrics, identify students falling behind, and recalibrate tactics for the upcoming week.
- Delivering instructional content on a whiteboard; academic instruction is embedded in the AI apps.
- Create a full curriculum from scratch; begin with an established playbook.
- Passive monitoring of students on devices; focus is hands‑on, individualized motivation.
- Follow multiple layers of approval for student support; decide and implement immediately.
- Grading assignments, preparing standardized tests, or parent outreach; handled by Campus Leads.
- Willing and able to work on‑site at one of the listed Alpha campuses.
- Bachelor’s degree in any field.
- Minimum three years of direct experience working with K‑8 students (teaching, coaching, tutoring, camp counseling, youth program leadership).
- Concrete example of motivating a K‑8 student toward a challenging goal, including objective, actions, and result.
- Comfort with AI delivering academic instruction while focusing on motivation and life‑skills.
- Authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
- Experience in youth sports coaching, debate, camp leadership, theater, or after‑school programs driving students toward measurable goals.
- History of personal excellence, demonstrating high standards naturally.
- Narrative skill and stage presence capable of engaging a room of 12‑year‑olds for an hour without raising voice.
- Proven success in transforming disengaged or reluctant students into committed participants.
