POSITION TITLE:

Music Therapist/Teacher for Special Education Students

SUPERVISOR:
Kathleen Suss

STATUS:
Part-time; up to 25 hours per week, 8am - 3pm, September 2024 - June 2025

GENERAL PURPOSE

Serve as a Music Therapist/Teacher for Concordia Conservatory’s outreach program in the Stamford Public School District, serving students in contained classrooms with a range of neurological and physical disabilities.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's and/or Master’s degree in Music Therapy, Music Education, Music Performance, Psychology/Music
  • Experience working with special needs children, preferably in a school setting.
  • Strong interpersonal, public speaking and writing skills.
  • Ability to represent the Conservatory in a professional manner.
  • Work well with multiple constituencies.
  • Ability to work with confidential information and exercise discretion.

    Demonstrate ability to effectively solve problems; initiate and implement projects independently.
  • Goal and detail oriented.
  • Effective at managing multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • The availability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Maintain a positive attitude that will promote a healthy cultural climate that reflects the mission of Concordia Conservatory.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide music therapy/lessons to students in contained classrooms (K-12).

Working with students with autism spectrum disorder, neurological dysfunction and developmental and/or cognitive disabilities

  • Ability to work well with verbal and non-verbal clients with a range of disabilities
  • Driver’s License and personal vehicle required
  • Report to Executive Director for scheduled meetings

  • Exemplify philosophy of Concordia Conservatory’s mission statement and values in all aspects of day-to-day duties and responsibilities assigned to this position

SALARY

Commensurate with experience.
