Position Description
Seattle City Light is seeking a Senior Training & Education Coordinator to join the Workforce Education and Engagement team within the Employee Development, Equity, and Belonging Division of the People and Culture Business Unit. In this role you will help shape the learning experience of our workforce by designing, coordinating, and delivering high‑impact safety training learning experiences.
You will collaborate closely with leaders, subject matter experts, and teams across the utility and other City departments to ensure our training efforts align with organizational needs and support employee growth. This position plays a key role in driving professional development initiatives and fostering a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organization.
This role requires the ability to work onsite a minimum of three (3) days per week and to thrive in open, collaborative work environments. Job Responsibilities- Design, deliver, and evaluate safety training programs that align with organizational priorities and compliance requirements.
- Build strong partnerships with leaders, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to ensure training supports business goals.
- Lead complex training initiatives from concept through implementation, ensuring timelines, resources, and budgets are effectively managed.
- Assess workforce development needs and implement solutions that support employee growth at all stages of the employee lifecycle.
- Measure training effectiveness, analyze results, and recommend enhancements that strengthen learning outcomes.
- Manage training budget to ensure high‑quality, cost‑effective program delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Three years professional experience in adult training/education administration, training project management, and/or educational consulting.
- Bachelor's Degree in Education, Social Science, Business or Public Administration, or a related field. Other combinations of education, training and experience will be evaluated on an individual basis for comparability.
- State of Washington driver's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
- A growth‑oriented mindset and adaptability to thrive amid organizational change.
- Demonstrated experience designing and evaluating effective training programs.
- Proven ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with leaders, teams, and subject matter experts.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and support a diverse workforce.
- Solid background in project and program management, with the capacity to balance multiple priorities and initiatives.
- Exceptional time management skills.
- Familiarity with safety protocols training practices, ideally within a utility, public sector, or energy‑related environment.
- Experience in public service or working with unionized environments.
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS).

Your participation is required and vital to helping the utility stay prepared and serve our community when it matters most.
The full salary range for this position is $47.39 to $55.19 per hour.
Job offers are contingent on the verification of credentials and other information required by the employment process, including the completion of a background check. The background check will involve a criminal history check, which includes conviction and arrest records in compliance with Seattle’s Fair Chance Employment Ordinance, SMC 14.17, and the City of Seattle Personnel Rule 10.3. A driving history review may be conducted in compliance with SMC 4.79.020.
