Overview

Make a meaningful impact by supporting students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in a part-time, onsite role serving a diverse caseload for the  school year. This contract opportunity is situated in a welcoming community just outside of Seattle, with a set schedule that allows you to focus on direct student support.

Youll engage a caseload of approximately 8 students, providing specialized instruction and support in alignment with their IEPs, totaling about 15 hours per week. This position emphasizes highly individualized attention, ensuring students with visual impairments thrive in their learning environments.

Qualifications
  • Washington State Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) certification is required.
  • Must be fingerprinted through OSPI prior to the start date.
  • Previous experience teaching students with visual impairments, preferably in a school setting.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Understanding of best practices in adaptive technology and materials for students with visual impairments.
  • Commitment to onsite, in-person instruction throughout the contract period.
Role Responsibilities
  • Deliver direct instruction and consultative services to students, based on their IEP service minutes.
  • Assess student needs and adapt general education curriculum as necessary.
  • Collaborate with teachers and specialists to support student access and participation.
  • Document services, progress, and maintain compliance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Provide recommendations for assistive technology and accessible educational materials.
