Responsibilities
- Tutor one‑on‑one with high‑school juniors and seniors, guiding them through brainstorming, structuring, drafting, and revising their personal statements and supplemental essays.
- Tutors choose when, where, and with whom they are open to working.
- No office; tutors generally meet students at public libraries or online.
- Build up to desired number of hours, typically not exceeding 20 hours per week.
- Families usually seek tutoring after school hours and on weekends.
- Most college essay tutors also work as general reading and writing tutors; applicants are welcome to apply for both positions concurrently.
- There are some hoops to jump through in getting started; this position is not suitable for short‑term work.
