Who Thrives at Bush

You find joy in working with students and alongside a passionate, thoughtful community of educators. You believe deeply that learning is most powerful when it is experiential, and when students learn by doing, exploring, and reflecting, rather than simply being told what to know and remember. You are invested in the growth of children as whole people, supporting their curiosity, sense of purpose, and capacity to contribute meaningfully to their communities, both within and beyond the classroom.

You are a lifelong learner who welcomes both support and challenge, and you are excited by the opportunity to continue developing your craft in a collegial, reflective environment. You are energized by contributing your skills and ideas, making a meaningful impact, and being part of something larger than yourself.

Who We Are

Founded in 1924 and located in Seattle's Madison Valley neighborhood, The Bush School is an independent school serving students from Kindergarten through Twelfth Grade. Bush offers a rich, intellectually engaging program grounded in experiential learning, designed to spark in students of diverse backgrounds and talents a passion for learning, accomplishment, and contribution to their communities. Our curriculum challenges students to think deeply and creatively, preparing them to thrive in future endeavors while remaining rooted in the school's longstanding core values.

We are committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse community in which every individual can say, "I belong." We seek educators and staff who are passionate about their work, highly skilled in their practice, and who bring a wide range of perspectives and experiences to our community. We believe deeply in the role education and diverse learning environments play in advancing equity, inclusion, and a shared sense of responsibility for one another.

The Bush School values different perspectives and backgrounds, inspires curiosity, encourages a collaborative work environment, and promotes compassion and kindness in our work together. Our employees are the key to building and sustaining this culture.

Summary of position:

The Bush School is seeking a JV Head Coach to help continue the momentum of a program that is coming off a State Championship and consecutive Emerald Sound Conference titles. With a talented group of returning athletes and a strong pipeline of developing players, this is an outstanding opportunity to make an immediate impact.

We are seeking a candidate who is able to support the school's goals towards building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive community. Under the direction of the Boys Varsity Golf Head Coach, the JV Head Coach oversees all aspects of the Boys JV Golf program at The Bush School, a member of the competitive Emerald Sound Conference. Working collaboratively with the Assistant Coach, Varsity coaching staff, and Athletic Department team, the JV Head Coach is responsible for planning and leading team practices, coaching all scheduled competitions, assisting with the management of team equipment and gear, and transporting student-athletes to away contests and off-site practices using a school vehicle.

This position reports directly to the Athletic Director.

The Bush School athletic program works within the rules of the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) and the Emerald Sound Conference to provide athletic opportunities and competition for students of all gender identities. The season begins on Monday, August 24, 2026, and continues through mid-October. Practices are held Monday through Friday between 3:45 and 6:30 p.m. (no longer than two hours per day) at local golf courses and The Bush School campus. Coaches generally meet their athletes at Bush, travel together to the practice or contest site, and return to campus at the end of the day.
