Speech Language Pathology Assistant
Full‑time position in a school setting for the 2026/2027 school year. The assistant will cover 1-2 buildings with a reasonable caseload.
Sign‑on bonus and educational stipend up to $5,000 available to qualified candidates.
ResponsibilitiesUnder the direction of a supervising SLP, participate on a team responsible for the identification, eligibility, and placement of speech and language impaired students. Assist in the development and monitoring of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for assigned students. Participate in staff meetings, planning events, department/special education meetings, manifestation determination meetings, FBA/BIP meetings, and eligibility, evaluation, and placement meetings. Communicate with other professionals to ensure continuity and coordination of programs.
Work directly with students to implement IEP goals and objectives. Develop therapy schedules and provide SLP services for students with speech and language impairments from preschool through 12th grade in accordance with their IEP. Help evaluate, implement and monitor augmentative communication devices for appropriate students, including those who are deaf or hard of hearing. Plan and provide clear and intentional focused instruction based on individual student IEP goals using state standards, subject matter content, and district curriculum.
Recognize individual student learning needs and develop strategies to address them for the purpose of promoting individual achievement. Foster and manage a safe, positive learning environment to promote effective student behavior and success. Communicate and collaborate with parents and the school community to foster student success and achievement while meeting special education laws and policies. Participate in and facilitate meetings to address student goals and needs and to meet laws and policies.
Maintain and process accurate records/documents as required by state and federal regulations and district policy. Maintain consistent attendance and conform to regular work hours specified under contract. Fulfill other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Ability to address a variety of speech/language deficits; current knowledge of assistive technology; knowledge of applicable state and federal rules and regulations; knowledge of subject matter/course content relevant to assignments; knowledge and understanding of child development; effective meeting of developmental needs of students; assessment and evaluation of student progress and achievement; knowledge and skills in using effective instructional strategies and practices;
ability to adapt and modify techniques and materials; organization, time management, and record‑keeping skills; ability to work independently; collaborative skills; positive interactions with parents, students, staff and administrators; effective oral and written communication; operation of technology devices and specific software programs; maintenance of confidentiality; and commitment to strengthening job‑related competencies.
Bachelor’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology/Communication Sciences and Disorders.
Compensation- $50,000–$69,000 per year.
