Position Description
The Department of Neurobiology and Biophysics at the University of Washington invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an anticipated start date of September 2027. We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community. The successful candidate will join our faculty on a full-time basis.
Assistant Professors (Tenure‑Track) are eligible for multi‑year appointments that align with a 12‑month service period (July 1‑June 30).
The base salary range for this position will be $10,834 – $11,667 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
The successful candidate will be expected to establish an independent research program and collaborate with members of the Department and other faculty within the University and affiliated institutions, to contribute to the teaching responsibilities of the department through existing or new courses, and to contribute to the department’s commitment to service within the School of Medicine, the University of Washington, and the greater Seattle community.
The Department of Neurobiology and Biophysics is built on the principles of innovation, integrity, and service. Our mission centers on three areas: advancing fundamental scientific and biomedical knowledge, training the next generation of scientists, and building a strong community invested in the success of every member of our department. We seek to build on our traditional strengths in the fields of neuroscience, physiology, and biophysics while also embracing new directions that complement and extend the department’s current research.
Work in the department spans a wide range, including questions about many different biological systems at scales ranging from molecular to organismal. Our search will be similarly broad.
