Writing Program Faculty
The Writing Program at Seattle Pacific University supports writing instruction from a student's first year until graduation. In addition to coordinating the two-course sequence all incoming first-year students take at SPU (the first housed in the English department and the second taught by faculty across campus), the Writing Program offers a seminar on the teaching of writing, hosts writing/pedagogy workshops, facilitates faculty writing groups, and oversees the year-end Rauer and Hedges Writing Awards and their companion "How I Learned to Write" lecture series.
More information can be found /writing.
We often have staffing needs in WRI 1000 and WRI 1100, our two-course required first-year writing sequence. Teaching in these courses would provide an opportunity to work closely with other SPU WRI faculty in our continued efforts to engage students in a transformative first-year experience.
Requirements:
- Doctoral degree in composition and rhetoric, or in literature, or
- Terminal degree in related field, or
- Terminal degree in another field with heavy emphasis on writing
- A personal commitment to Christian faith, enthusiasm about supporting SPU's mission, alignment with the University's Statement of Faith, and willingness to accept the lifestyle standards of the Christian community.
- A comfortability discussing the intersection of faith and writing with students
To apply:
Please submit the online application through the Workday Careers site and upload a resume/CV and cover letter.
