Seattle Colleges is looking for innovative and dedicated faculty members, who have a demonstrated commitment to working within a college community that is diverse and serves students from a broad spectrum of socioeconomic and academic backgrounds. Faculty will teach part-time in a wide range of Aviation Maintenance Technology courses. Successful applicants will have the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, staff and others in a campus climate that promotes cultural diversity and multicultural understanding in an urban environment.
This position is a part time, non-tenure track faculty position that will provide instruction in the FAA-regulated Aviation Maintenance Program. This position may teach during the day or the evening depending on the instructional needs of SSC. The teaching requirement is for 6 hours of contact each day. Classes are offered each quarter for nine weeks. Additional time may be required for student advising as well as campus and departmental activities and committees.
Instructional hours will depend on the schedule needed for coverage of the classes offered and the subjects taught. Specific teaching assignments will be dependent on the instructor's background and scheduling. Successful applicants may be invited to teach at Seattle Central College. Candidates should be willing to teach in a variety of formats such as in-class, hybrid, online and varied class times including days, evenings, and weekends according to program needs.
This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by AFT-Seattle. The salary range for part time faculty is $8,845 - $13,248.33 for a 5-credit single-class (P2: A1- E7). Please note that all AMT classes have a 15-credit single-class workload per quarter.

What You Bring As a CandidateThis faculty position must possess current certification from the Federal Aviation Administration in both Airframe and Powerplant. Candidates should have current work experience in General or Commercial Aviation and possess a broad base of experience that will enable delivery of current industry practices to the students enrolled in the program. Candidates must have a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively. Candidates must be able to work well with diverse populations and demonstrate sensitivity to cultural differences.
