Job DescriptionWe are seeking a highly motivated Classroom Aide to support Lead Teachers and Teaching Assistants in providing a high‑quality, multicultural, inclusive educational experience for all children and families.
Essential Functions- Assist the teaching team in maintaining a healthy, safe, and warm classroom environment through effective supervision and developmentally appropriate practices that encourage learning through curiosity, experimentation, play, and implementation of individualized plans.
- Assist in delivering weekly lesson plans by preparing materials, organizing supplies, and helping keep children on task.
- Assist in completion of Teaching Strategies Gold observations and checkpoint data to assess child growth and development.
- Engage in warm, caring interactions and fun, imaginative play with children.
- Provide support for children's behavior with evidence‑based strategies.
- Assist with general maintenance, organization, and security of the facility.
- High school diploma or equivalent; early childhood education coursework preferred.
- Experience working with children ages 5 and under.
- Able to communicate in English verbally and in writing.
- Bilingual in a language spoken by DLEC parents (Spanish, Amharic, Cantonese, Vietnamese) preferred.
$21.40 – $26.09 hourly
Work ScheduleRegular
Schedule:
Monday to Thursday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, with one Friday a month for staff/training days (subject to change).
Medical, Dental, Vision, Long‑Term Disability, and optional supplemental insurance coverage. Eligibility for 401(k) plan with employer contribution. Part‑time and full‑time team members receive PTO, thirteen paid holidays, and one personal holiday. Additional compensation may include tuition reimbursement, hiring/retention/long‑term, referral, or special assignment bonuses, subject to budgetary limits.
Physical DemandsMust be able to lift and carry a child up to 50 lb, frequently kneel, bend, crouch, sit on the floor, and stand or walk throughout the day. Adequate physical ability to perform all job duties is required.
Working ConditionsEarly childhood school environment with moderate to loud noise. Reasonable accommodations available for qualified individuals with disabilities.
Safety RequirementsAll employees must have current MMR and COVID‑19 vaccinations (or exemption). Weekly testing required if approved.
Background CheckEmployment or volunteer service requires a criminal background check as mandated by child care licensing and Head Start Performance Standards. The 60 prohibited criminal convictions listed in WAC 388‑330‑040 disqualify individuals from working with children.
