Part Time Faculty Pool - Apprenticeship Programs; Inclement Weather

The Seattle Colleges are looking for innovative and dedicated faculty members who have a demonstrated commitment to working within a college community that is diverse and serves students from a broad spectrum of socioeconomic and academic backgrounds. Faculty will teach part‑time in a trade related to their background. Successful applicants will be able to work effectively with students, colleagues, staff and others in a campus climate that promotes cultural diversity and multicultural understanding in an urban environment.

The Georgetown Campus of South Seattle College is Washington State’s largest apprenticeship training institution. Serving over 3,000 apprentices and students earning everything from short‑term certificates and industry‑recognized credentials to Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) degrees, the Georgetown campus is known as the area’s premier workforce education and training center.

The position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by AFT‑Seattle. This role is part‑time and the salary range is $7,703 – $11,537.33 (P1: A1‑E7).

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a regular basis. The employer will not sponsor applicants for work visas. Seattle Colleges is unable to extend post‑completion optional practical training (OPT) to F‑1 students who receive STEM degrees.

• Provide high‑quality instruction using effective teaching strategies that support diverse student populations and promote student learning.
• Assess student progress and provide constructive, timely feedback to support academic success.
• Ensure course materials are accessible to students in compliance with digital accessibility standards.

• Utilize appropriate educational technologies and communication tools to support teaching, learning, and administrative responsibilities.

• Maintain and submit required documentation such as course information, academic credentials, and professional references as part of the application and employment process.

• At least three years of experience in the field/trade
• Education and/or training in the field and/or teaching in the field
• An understanding of the goals and role of the community college
• Demonstrated ability and commitment to teach multiple levels of the topic of study
• Teaching assignment(s) include any of the curriculum approved courses within the apprenticeship programs
• Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio‑economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty, and staff
• Standard duties of all part‑time faculty as outlined in the AFT Seattle Colleges agreement, including but not limited to evaluation and assessment of student work, timely submission of grades, and student and administrative evaluations
• Innovative teaching methods including the use of technology and collaborative learning
• The ability to work collaboratively with others in a professional setting
