Title: Senior Assistant Librarian or Associate Librarian – Public Health and Health Sciences Strategy Librarian
Position DescriptionThe Libraries at the University of Washington invite applications for a librarian position at the rank of Senior Assistant Librarian or Associate Librarian, with an anticipated start date of October 2026. We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching and service within a diverse and inclusive academic community. The successful candidate will join the libraries on a full‑time basis beginning this fall quarter.
The base salary ranges for this position are $6,710–$7,360 per month for a Senior Assistant Librarian and $7,450–$8,080 per month for an Associate Librarian, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Other compensation associated with this position may include a moving allowance.
The PositionThe Public Health and Health Sciences Strategy Librarian will join the Clinical Research & Data Services (CRDS) team to provide research and teaching support to the School of Public Health and other Health Sciences Library–supported entities. Reporting directly to the Senior Director, DSSHS, this position assists with the development of scalable, sustainable instructional and research services. The role collaborates with RLS colleagues to identify programmatic strategies for services, including providing curriculum design coordination for DSSHS librarians and serving as an active member of the Data Services Team to integrate data support into HSL service models.
This position is eligible for hybrid work (on campus and remote).
Specific Responsibilities and Duties- Provide research support and build relationships with students, faculty, and staff in the School of Public Health and affiliated departments.
- Conduct individual and group consultations in research strategies, searching, information management, and tools for evidence‑based practice.
- Maintain and develop expert searching skills for complex literature searches.
- Provide liaison services to other departments and schools as requested.
- Actively participate in CRDS and DSSHS meetings, contributing to service, projects, and enhancements.
- Assist in defining Health Sciences service models for teaching, learning, research, and clinical care under the direction of the DSSHS Senior Director and in collaboration with CRDS and others.
- Coordinate with DSSHS librarians, faculty, and Libraries colleagues to design effective curricular approaches to instruction across departments and support development of instructional and assessment materials.
- Cultivate and sustain collaborative relationships to support the University educational mission.
- Advocate for HSL integration into curriculum renewal and interprofessional education programs.
- Serve as HSL liaison to the Data Services Team and assist the Senior Director in building DSSHS capacity for data and related research needs, staying abreast of developments in health‑related data access, collections, and research.
- Collaborate with Data Services and IT teams to support emerging uses of AI in research and teaching.
Libraries‑wide
- Maintain a broad understanding of the Libraries Strategic Plan, operations, policies, priorities, and objectives; assist in development and achievement of these through participation in Libraries initiatives, committees, task forces, and program planning.
- Participate actively in Libraries and Research & Learning Services activities and meetings; communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors; abide by the Libraries Personal Communication Responsibility Guidelines.
