This position provides support and counseling to students and families regarding financial aid and student account matters, assisting with application, verification, and savings and budgeting options, and resolving complex questions that require individualized solutions.

- Financial Aid (45%)
- Assist students and families with FAFSA, eligibility and filing, and completion support.
- Answer questions about financial aid packages, timing of awards, and types of loans.
- Explain the financial aid verification process and required documentation.
- Clarify satisfactory academic progress, eligibility appeals, and special circumstance appeals.
- Provide information on student rights and responsibilities in the financial aid process.
- Offer scholarship and grant information for undergraduate and graduate students, including federal and state grants.
- Student Account Management (45%)
- Provide information and assistance with payment and financing options, payment plans, refunds, billing schedules, account balances, lost checks, waiver requests, 1098‑T, paid receipts, and holds.
- Counsel students, prospective students, and families about educational finance options.
- Online Services (10%)
- Assist students, prospective students, and families with online platforms such as MySeattleU, FAFSA, and student aid.gov for federal loan information.
- Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of experience in a Financial Aid/Student Account office, or equivalent education/experience.
- Strong commitment to customer service and ability to resolve wide-ranging complex problems through creative reasoning and logic.
- Skill to counsel individuals and families on financial aid and student account matters, working independently and cooperatively.
- Proficiency with desktop PC, ERP system, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with ability to prepare clear reports and materials.
- Additional two or more years of experience in a Financial Aid/Student Accounts Office.
- Previous experience using the Ellucian Colleague ERP.
- Spanish‑language proficiency.
$46,000 – $47,000 per year, based on qualifications and departmental budget. Salary will be determined with consideration of internal equity and market information.
