Position Summary
Seattle Colleges is looking for innovative and dedicated faculty members who have a demonstrated commitment to working within a college community that is diverse and serves students from a broad spectrum of socioeconomic and academic backgrounds. The position is a part‑time, non‑tenure track faculty role providing instruction in the FAA‑regulated Aviation Maintenance Program. Faculty may teach during the day or evening depending on instructional needs, with a teaching requirement of 6 contact hours per day and classes offered each quarter for nine weeks.
Additional time may be required for student advising and participation in campus and departmental activities and committees.
- Provide high‑quality instruction using effective teaching strategies that support diverse student populations and promote learning.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive, timely feedback to support academic success.
- Ensure course materials are accessible to students in compliance with digital accessibility standards.
- Demonstrate a commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment.
- Utilize appropriate educational technologies and communication tools to support teaching, learning, and administrative responsibilities.
- Uphold the mission and values of Seattle Colleges by supporting student achievement and contributing to a positive learning environment.
- Maintain and submit required documentation such as course information, academic credentials, and professional references as part of the application and employment process.
- Teach in a variety of formats such as in‑class, hybrid, online, and varied class times including days, evenings, and weekends according to program needs.
- Perform advising, committee participation, and other departmental duties as required.
- Current Federal Aviation Administration certification in both Airframe and Powerplant.
- Current work experience in General or Commercial Aviation and a broad base of industry experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and with diverse populations.
- Follow instructions, policies, and procedures.
- Record student attendance, projects, and test scores.
- Evaluate performance of others.
- Manage resources and direct projects.
- Instruct students in all aspects of FAA General, Airframe, and Powerplant categories.
- Provide a supportive and culturally sensitive environment for students in the program.
- Collaborate with colleagues to maintain and improve the aviation program.
- Participate in college‑wide activities.
- Understand the goals and role of the community college.
- Demonstrate ability and commitment to teach multiple levels on the topic of study.
- Employ innovative teaching methods that include technology and collaborative learning.
- Previous teaching experience.
- Certificate of Completion in CPR/AED/First‑Aid.
Salary range for part time faculty is $8,845 - $13,248.33 for a 5‑credit single‑class (P2: A1‑E7). All AMT classes have a 15‑credit single‑class workload per quarter.
