About the Role

Assistant Principal at LEARN Charter School Network – Washington, DC campus.

The Assistant Principal’s primary responsibilities include supervising, disciplining, and monitoring students, implementing school policies, and supporting instructional and operational functions.

• Assist in developing and implementing assessments and instructional programs for students.
• Guide classroom set‑up, create master schedules, and manage curriculum material procurement.
• Develop and enforce student conduct guidelines and disciplinary procedures with the Principal.
• Oversee student arrivals, dismissals, and other transitions.
• Plan and supervise extracurricular activities.

• Observe, evaluate, and coach assigned teachers and staff.
• Lead professional development sessions as required.
• Create a positive learning environment, incorporating strategies and support systems.

• Recruit, hire, and orient teaching and support staff.
• Address conflicts, concerns, and problems proactively.

• 2+ years experience as an Assistant Principal or 3‑5 years as a Master Teacher.
• Knowledge of Illinois education laws, regulations, and policies.
• Familiarity with elementary‑grade curriculum and instructional programs.
• Strong communication, organizational, and data‑analysis skills.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects within strict timelines.
• Demonstrates the LEARN core values and a positive, energetic attitude.

• Bilingual proficiency.
• Interest in becoming a Principal within 1–2 years.
• Master’s degree.
• Ability to evaluate and improve processes.

Work performed in a general office environment with extended hours and non‑traditional hours as required. Involves use of standard office equipment, standing, bending, reaching, walking, and stair‑climbing. Vaccination or valid exemption required as of 11/1/21.
