About the Role
Assistant Principal at LEARN Charter School Network – Washington, DC campus.
What You'll DoThe Assistant Principal’s primary responsibilities include supervising, disciplining, and monitoring students, implementing school policies, and supporting instructional and operational functions.
Essential Job Functions- Assist in developing and implementing assessments and instructional programs for students.
- Guide classroom set‑up, create master schedules, and manage curriculum material procurement.
- Develop and enforce student conduct guidelines and disciplinary procedures with the Principal.
- Oversee student arrivals, dismissals, and other transitions.
- Plan and supervise extracurricular activities.
- Observe, evaluate, and coach assigned teachers and staff.
- Lead professional development sessions as required.
- Create a positive learning environment, incorporating strategies and support systems.
- Recruit, hire, and orient teaching and support staff.
- Address conflicts, concerns, and problems proactively.
- 2+ years experience as an Assistant Principal or 3‑5 years as a Master Teacher.
- Knowledge of Illinois education laws, regulations, and policies.
- Familiarity with elementary‑grade curriculum and instructional programs.
- Strong communication, organizational, and data‑analysis skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects within strict timelines.
- Demonstrates the LEARN core values and a positive, energetic attitude.
- Bilingual proficiency.
- Interest in becoming a Principal within 1–2 years.
- Master’s degree.
- Ability to evaluate and improve processes.
