Opportunity Description
Seattle Central College is looking to hire a Dean of Libraries, Learning Support, and Faculty Development in Instruction.
Salary Range: $104,498 to $144,307 annually (depending on experience).

The Dean provides strong advocacy and strategic leadership for student instructional and support programs and professional development for all college employees. The role includes administrative facilitation of the Libraries (main campus and three co‑locations), the Learning Support Network, and Faculty Professional Development at Seattle Central College. The library staff includes librarians, classified staff, and hourly employees. The Learning Support Network offers academic support to all students in person and remotely;
the Director of LSN supervises classified staff and hourly employees.
The Dean is responsible for directing, organizing, and managing all division employees, resources, programs, and services, and serving as their advocate. The Dean collaborates across instructional divisions and the college to provide outstanding service, support student centeredness, and collaborative governance among employees within the libraries.
This position supervises exempt, faculty, classified, student, work‑study, and temporary employees. It is a full‑time, 40‑hour work week, Monday through Friday, primarily from 9 am–5 pm, on‑site 100% of the time.
Responsibilities- Support the college mission through anti‑racist, student‑centered services and instruction.
- Provide leadership for a Teaching and Learning Center focused on inclusive pedagogical excellence across all programs.
- Lead and support a college‑wide approach to professional development through needs assessment, advocacy, grant writing, planning, coordination, and collaboration.
- Provide support for Development Day, a quarterly professional development opportunity for all employees.
- Facilitate the college's Professional Development Committee to equitably, transparently, and systematically disburse professional development funds.
- Serve as the college's copyright officer.
- Advocate for the libraries, faculty professional development, and Learning Support Network through strategic planning and development of division functions.
- Advocate for sufficient funding to ensure library spaces and collections that support knowledge and cultural engagement.
- Secure funding, staffing, and other resources to support optimal functioning of the division.
- Coordinate and support professional development offerings to deepen cultural competence and antiracism.
- Prepare and administer annual budgets for all unit departments.
- Manage the preparation of accreditation documentation and reports related to unit departments.
- Create safe, bias‑free learning and work environments for staff, faculty, and students.
- Develop policies and procedures that align with college and district policies and state and federal laws.
- Support collaborative decision making among faculty and staff.
- Contribute to institutional service supporting the college mission, values, core themes, and strategic plans.
- Advance and advocate for strategic priorities of the college and unit departments by serving on internal, district, and external councils, committees, professional organizations, and task forces.
- Collaborate with district eLearning and IT to address teaching and learning needs in digital and in‑person environments.
- Participate in other college activities and governance through committee work.
- Collaborate across departments on campus and across all three Seattle Colleges.
- Guide and support the development and delivery of the college's information literacy instruction program.
- Support the development of accessible online, hybrid, and self‑paced course offerings and related policies.
- ALA‑accredited Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) or a related master’s degree.
