**** The College of Engineering's Engineering Advising & Student Engagement (EASE) team has an outstanding opportunity for a*
* ** Temporary Senior Academic Adviser to join their team.
**** About this Opportunity
** Reporting to the Senior Director for Student Academic Services, the Temporary Senior Academic Adviser provides advising, programs, and services to support first-year Engineering Undeclared students who are clarifying their academic interests and goals and preparing for entry into majors. This position manages a signature program in the college, the Engineering Peer Educator program, which is deeply embedded in the first-year student experience.

The initial appointment will be for 9 months with the possibility of an extension based on need.#
** Duties and Responsibilities**## Programmatic & Administrative (50%)
* Collaborate with ELE Program Managers to lead an intentional recruitment and selection process with the goal of yielding around 50 EPEs and 2 Lead EPEs who represent all engineering majors and reflect a myriad of student experiences.
* Manage ENGR 490 course (2 credits) to train and support EPEs in spring quarter. Lead curriculum development in collaboration with ELE Program Managers and Lead EPEs; oversee grading, etc.
* Supervise two Lead Engineering Peer Educator(s); meet regularly to plan ENGR 490 class sessions; provide feedback on their facilitation of sessions.
* Partner with New Student & Transfer Programs to designate which EPEs will engage in individual versus team teaching pairs for autumn quarter GEN ST 199 sections.
* Support development and implementation of workshops for ENGRUDs around topics such as registration and placement preparation.
* Assist in the delivery of the college's major programs such as Admitted Student Day, Engineering Launch, Engineering Exploration Night, Discovery Days, etc. ,##
** Academic Advising (45%)
*** Serve as assigned academic adviser for a caseload of around 300 Engineering Undeclared students. Provide one-on-one developmental advising that includes helping students:
* Provide Quick Question drop-in advising accessible to all ENGRUD students.
* Connect with other campus units (Undergraduate Academic Affairs Academic Advising, New Student & Transfer Programs, Undergraduate Admissions, Office of Minority Affairs & Diversity, Office of the University Registrar, Student Athlete Academic Services, University Honors Program, etc.) as applicable to provide holistic advising services to Engineering Undeclared students.## ##
** Support Student Academic Services Team(s) (5%)
*** Provide back-up support as needed to the engradv email account.
* Support application review as needed for College of Engineering programs and/or awards (for example, Emerging Leaders in Engineering program, Dean’s Medal).
* Perform duties as assigned to support the broader goals of the Student Academic Services team.#
** Required Qualifications

** Minimum Qualifications
*** Bachelor’s degree in social science, science, engineering, humanities discipline, or related field.
* Three years of academic advising, student counseling, or teaching experience.

*** Flexibility to work occasional workday evenings and/or weekend events.
* Frequency is anticipated to be around 1-2 times a quarter.
