South Seattle College offers two Environmental pathways that prepares students to transfer at the junior level to a four
¿ year university. The Environmental Science pathway builds a strong foundation in math, chemistry, physics, and biology, with hands
¿ on field and lab work to tackle global challenges. The Environmental Studies pathway combines natural sciences with social sciences, policy, and humanities, opening doors to careers in conservation, sustainability, education, government, and non
¿ profits.

Position Summary

The Seattle Colleges are looking for innovative and dedicated faculty members who have a demonstrated commitment to working within a college community that is diverse and serves students from a broad spectrum of socioeconomic and academic backgrounds. Faculty will teach various levels of Environmental classes in a part-time capacity. Successful applicants will have the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, staff and others in a campus climate that promotes cultural diversity and multicultural understanding in an urban environment.

Successful applicants may be invited to interview at South Seattle College. Specific teaching assignments will be dependent on the instructor's background, scheduling, and available courses.

Candidates should be willing to teach in a variety of formats such as in‑class, hybrid, online and varied class times including days, evenings, and weekends according to program needs.

This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by AFT-Seattle.

The salary range for part‑time faculty is (generally P1: A1- E7): $7,703 - $11,537.33 (for a 5-credit single‑class workload per quarter). Target start rate of pay is $7,703 - $8,912 (for a 5-credit single‑class workload per quarter) A1-C3.
