MMSC Day School is a private Jewish school serving students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Our warm, mission-driven community combines a rigorous General Studies curriculum with Judaic education, character development, and individualized student support. Small class sizes allow educators to build meaningful relationships with students and provide responsive, differentiated instruction.
Position SummaryMMSC Day School is seeking a dedicated and engaging part-time ELA Educator to teach English Language Arts to our seventh- and eighth-grade boys. This position also includes opportunities to provide small-group and individualized academic support.
The ideal candidate will create a structured, positive classroom environment while helping students strengthen their reading comprehension, writing, grammar, vocabulary, literary analysis, and communication skills.
Primary Responsibilities- Plan and deliver engaging English Language Arts instruction
- Teach reading comprehension, literature, writing, grammar, spelling, and vocabulary
- Use established curriculum materials while adapting instruction to meet student needs
- Differentiate lessons for students with varying academic strengths and learning needs
- Provide small-group and individualized academic support
- Assess student learning and provide timely, constructive feedback
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, assignments, and grades
- Establish clear expectations and foster a respectful learning environment
- Collaborate with school leadership, educators, and student-support staff
- Communicate professionally with families regarding student progress
- Participate in applicable staff meetings, professional development, and school activities
- Bachelor’s degree in English, education, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of English Language Arts content and instructional practices
- Previous experience teaching or working with middle school students
- Ability to differentiate instruction and support a range of learning needs
- Strong classroom-management, communication, and organizational skills
- Teaching certification or relevant graduate study preferred
- Collaborative, dependable, flexible, and student-centered Respect for and willingness to support the mission and values of a Jewish day school
Availability to work on-site Monday through Friday from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m.
