Teacher of the Visually Impaired
Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) | Seattle WA | 2026–2027 School Year
Ampersand Therapy is hiring an itinerant Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) for the 2026–2027 school year in the Seattle WA area. We are a women- and therapist-founded company committed to creating a supportive employment experience for school-based professionals. Teacher of the Visually Impaired - Setting:
In-person and school-based - Schedule:
Full time, approximately 8:00 AM–3:30 PM - Maximum
Hours:
Up to 40 hours per week - Dates:
August 27, 2026–June 19, 2027 - Grade Levels:
All grade levels
- Provide specialized instruction to students who are blind or visually impaired
- Assess students' functional vision and learning-media needs
- Support instruction in the Expanded Core Curriculum
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs
- Adapt instructional materials and recommend appropriate assistive technology
- Collaborate with teachers, families, related service providers, and school teams
- Track student progress and maintain accurate documentation
- Travel between assigned school sites as needed
- Valid state teaching credential with an endorsement in visual impairments
- Bachelor's or master's degree in special education, visual impairments, or a related field
- Experience working with school-aged students preferred
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
