Deaf and Hard of Hearing Specialist
Ampersand Therapy is hiring an itinerant Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Specialist for the 2026–2027 school year in the Seattle WA area. We are a women- and therapist-founded company that values collaboration, professional support, and meaningful work with students and school communities.
Job Highlights- Position:
Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing - Setting:
In-person and school-based - Schedule:
Full time, approximately 8:00 AM–3:30 PM - Maximum
Hours:
Up to 40 hours per week - Dates:
August 27, 2026–June 19, 2027 - Grade Levels:
All grade levels
- Provide specialized instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Assess students' communication, language, academic, and accessibility needs
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs
- Adapt curriculum and classroom materials to support student access
- Consult with general education teachers and school teams regarding accommodations
- Support the use of hearing technology, assistive devices, and communication systems
- Collaborate with families, interpreters, audiologists, and related service providers
- Maintain accurate progress notes, service records, and educational documentation
- Travel between assigned school sites as needed
- Valid state teaching credential with a Deaf and Hard of Hearing endorsement
- Bachelor's or master's degree in deaf education, special education, or a related field
- Experience supporting students across multiple grade levels preferred
- Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to travel between school sites
