DescriptionThe Information School at the University of Washington invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2027. We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community. The successful candidate will join our faculty on a full-time basis for a nine-month academic appointment, with a 3-year term, renewable beginning 2027.
The base salary range for this position will be $13,000 - $14,935 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
- Conduct high-quality research, and pursue extramural funding as needed to support research;
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in their area of specialization;
- Perform service that furthers the mission of the Information School and the University of Washington more broadly; and
- Contribute to the Information School's strategic areas: climate change, health and wellness, healthy information environments, and responsibility in artificial intelligence.
This position will contribute to research and teaching in Information Systems and Organizations, with a focus on the organizational integration, deployment, and impact of artificial intelligence (AI). We welcome applicants whose work examines the socio-technical, organizational, strategic, and human dimensions of AI in contemporary organizations.
Areas of research interest include, but are not limited to:- AI trust, governance, and responsible deployment within organizations AI-enabled transformation of work, organizations, and the future of work
- Human-AI collaboration, decision-making, and knowledge work
- AI strategy, digital transformation, and organizational capabilities
Organizational adoption, implementation, and management of AI systems - Ethical, equitable, and inclusive AI in organizational contexts
- AI and organizational learning, innovation, and performance

Applicants must minimally hold a PhD (or foreign equivalent) by the date of appointment. Applicants must have 3 years of experience in conducting research, inclusive of graduate studies.
