The Float Teacher plays an important role in creating a nurturing, safe, joyful, and developmentally appropriate environment for our youngest learners.

This position works across Early Childhood classrooms based on the needs of the program each day. The ideal candidate enjoys working with young children, is comfortable moving between classrooms and age groups, and is able to quickly become a supportive and positive presence for both students and teachers.

• Provide classroom support across the Early Childhood Department as assigned.
• Step into classrooms to provide coverage for teacher absences, breaks, meetings, planning time, or additional classroom needs.
• Work collaboratively with lead teachers and assistants to support classroom routines, lessons, centers, and activities.
• Actively supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, meals and snacks, rest time, outdoor play, and other parts of the school day.
• Build warm, caring, and respectful relationships with students.
• Support children with social emotional development, problem solving, independence, and age appropriate self regulation.
• Reinforce classroom expectations and routines using positive and consistent language.
• Assist with classroom preparation, organization, setup, and cleanup as needed.
• Help maintain safe, organized, welcoming, and engaging learning environments.
• Observe and respond to individual student needs while following guidance from classroom teachers and the Early Childhood Director.
• Communicate professionally and respectfully with teachers, administrators, students, and families.
• Maintain student confidentiality and follow all school policies and procedures.
• Be flexible and willing to adjust responsibilities throughout the day based on the needs of students and the Early Childhood program.

• Is patient, kind, energetic, dependable, and flexible.
• Works well as part of a collaborative team.
• Is comfortable taking direction from different classroom teachers and adapting to different classroom routines.
• Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Is able to actively supervise young children and engage with them throughout the school day.
• Has experience working with young children in a preschool, childcare, camp, school, or similar setting; early childhood classroom experience and early childhood education credits.
• Demonstrates professionalism, good judgment, and reliability.
