Join our dynamic Energy Portfolio Operations (EPO) team, where we expertly manage AWS' portfolio of energy contracts, including carbon-free and renewable energy sources. We are seeking a skilled and experienced energy supply professional with a proven track record in managing energy supply and power purchase contracts. This role involves overseeing relationships with counter parties such as Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and utilities, while effectively resolving commercial issues.
As a pivotal member of our global team, you'll collaborate with stakeholders across the AWS Infrastructure Services organization, working to manage, analyze, and influence our energy strategies, contracts, and frameworks. The ideal candidate will demonstrate commercial acumen, an analytical mindset, and substantial experience in negotiating and managing energy supply contracts and power purchase agreements.
KeyJob Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with regional Energy Operations and Strategy teams to provide recommendations, ensure alignment, and drive issues toward resolution that support strategic energy sourcing opportunities.
- Oversee a diverse portfolio of energy supply contracts and carbon-free energy purchase agreements, including complex structures.
- Act as a subject matter expert to minimize risks, reduce costs, and leverage opportunities for Amazon's customers.
- Develop in-depth knowledge of the market and performance of Amazon's global energy portfolio.
- Lead initiatives to enhance our energy portfolio operations, continually seeking innovative ways to simplify and scale.
- Create and implement innovative initiatives and programs to achieve organizational goals.
- Analyze performance metrics, assessing impacts on business units and customers, and propose actionable plans for improvement.
- Work collaboratively with team members to deliver outstanding results for AWS' customers.
A Day in the Life:
Every day, you'll engage with various teams responsible for our data centers, prioritizing actions that impact capacity delivery, availability, and safety. Experience the excitement of working on local and global projects.
- Bachelor's degree or higher.
- Over 10 years of experience in the utility or energy industry, focusing on asset or contract management, and market operations.
- Proven experience negotiating contracts with utilities or IPPs.
- Demonstrated experience creating process improvements through automation and analysis.
- Strong communication skills for effectively engaging with leadership, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
- Master's Degree (MBA/MS) preferred.
- Exceptional attention to detail with excellent speaking, listening, and writing skills.

Base salary range for this position: $ - $ annually. Additional compensation includes sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Comprehensive benefits package offered.
