Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (Structures) - Advanced Space Systems
A well-funded and rapidly growing space company is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical or Structures Engineer to help design, build, and deliver complex aerospace hardware with real mission impact.
This is a high-ownership role within a collaborative engineering team where you'll work across multiple subsystems and take designs from concept through flight. The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguity, enjoys solving hard problems, and brings a strong foundation in structural or mechanical design- particularly in fast-paced, iterative development environments.
If you’ve been looking for a place where your designs turn into flight hardware fast, and your voice shapes the product from day one, this is that kind of opportunity.
🛠 What You’ll Do:
- Lead the design and integration of mechanical or structural hardware across key vehicle systems
- Own flight-critical components through full lifecycle: requirements, design, analysis, build, test, and integration
- Contribute to load paths, material selection, structural interfaces, and design-for-manufacture decisions
- Work closely with test and manufacturing teams to troubleshoot and validate performance
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to building a high-standards, delivery-focused culture
✅ What You Bring:
- 6+ years in aerospace, mechanical, or structural engineering roles (spaceflight experience strongly preferred)
- Strong CAD proficiency (NX preferred) and familiarity with FEA or structural analysis tools
- Experience with design of composite and/or metallic flight hardware
- Hands-on involvement in taking hardware through manufacturing and test
- Systems mindset and ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-moving team
- Enthusiasm for early-stage programs and building things that fly
This role is on-site in the greater Seattle area.
