Supply Chain Engineer III – Avionics
Blue Origin is building reusable, safe, and low‑cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. We are looking for a technically ambitious, proactive, service‑oriented individual to join our Operations team.
This role is part of Blue Origin Operations and involves manufacturing and supply chain support across all facilities. You will manage avionics suppliers across business units from a technical standpoint, working closely with Integrated Product Team leadership, buyers, supplier quality engineers, program managers, and external manufacturing partners to deliver compliant avionics hardware.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with program, supply chain personnel, and suppliers to execute and deliver avionics products in alignment with business technical goals and timelines.
- Strengthen supplier relationships and convey their capabilities, performance, and DfX feedback to integrated product teams.
- Participate in regular supplier meetings to review performance, address risks, resolve issues, track execution, and ensure quality design and manufacturing processes.
- Support internal product test teams, contract manufacturers, and contract test houses through functional, acceptance, and qualification testing.
- Support supplier adoption of design and priority changes, and champion simplification of the Statement of Work and specification evolution.
- Engage in supplier improvement programs, providing analysis and corrective actions for QBRs, SCARs, and supporting supplier quality oversight as needed.
- Manage swift non‑conformance management and disposition.
Qualifications:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in a relevant avionics engineering field with project management experience or training.
- 5–10 years of experience developing complex electronic products (PCBs, enclosures, harnessing), NPI program management, and product testing.
- Significant experience working with cross‑functional product development teams and external manufacturers to plan, fabricate, test, and deliver complex electronic products and harnessing.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Customer‑oriented, collaborative team player with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Resourceful self‑starter with a demonstrated sense of ownership and a strong bias for action in managing complex projects.
- Up to 25% travel to domestic suppliers.
Desired (but not required):
- Direct experience supporting ramped production for avionics hardware.
- Familiarity with IPC board and harness development standards and Class 2 vs Class 3 circuit card design trade‑offs.
- Experience with electronic product development tools:
Primavera (P6), DOORS/DNG, Altium, OrCAD, CREO, Windchill.
