Amazon Web Services’ Network Products Development team is looking for an experienced hardware engineering professional to help build our next generation networking platforms. The right candidate will play a key role in the design and development of next generation Ethernet switching platforms for AWS data centers, with strong experience in modular chassis based enterprise/carrier products.

• Lead hardware board design with Ethernet networking experience in terabit switch fabrics, 10/40/100 gigabit interfaces, embedded CPU subsystems, and network processors.
• Define and design modular chassis based products and work with Asian ODM/JDM partners in development and manufacturing.
• Drive high speed digital design as a design lead, including architectural definition, component selection, detailed design, PCB collaboration, testing, and transition to manufacturing.
• Apply skills in simulation, timing analysis, thermal analysis, and EMC; oversee verification plans and functional test procedures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, HW, SI, diagnostic, and manufacturing engineers.
• Occasional travel up to 10% to Seattle and Asia; ability to enter Taiwan and China without visa issues.

Basic Qualifications

• Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures.
• Experience in motherboard design, PCB design including schematic capture, stackup and circuit board layout.
• BSEE with 10+ years in hardware board and systems development; proven track record taking products from concept to mass production.
• Recent 5+ years experience with Ethernet switching fabrics, Ethernet PHY and Ser Des interfaces, embedded CPU subsystems, DDR2/DDR3/DDR4 memory design, network processors, I2C, USB.
• Experience with high-speed PCB design and AC/DC PI.
• Recent 5+ years of experience in CPLD/FPGA design using VHDL or Verilog.
• Experience troubleshooting with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and specialized test equipment (PCI analyzers, in-circuit emulators).
• Strong verbal and written communication; well-organized.
• Experience as a project and technical lead; program management skills are a must.
• Experience interfacing with cross-functional teams and outside vendors/partners, particularly Asian CMs and Asian ODM/JDM partners.
• Willingness to travel up to 10%; candidate must be able to enter Taiwan and China without visa issues.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
• Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production.
• Experience in project management of technical projects.
• Experience in server technologies including thermal, mechanical, power, and signal integrity.
• Experience defining and implementing modular chassis functions such as system redundancy, hot-swap, power distribution, environmental control, and system management.
• CPLD/FPGA experience in advanced hardware control/monitoring/logging.
• Experience in specifying mechanical enclosures.
• Experience in analog design, signal integrity analysis, DC-DC switcher design, EDVT, and MDVT is a plus.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. The compensation package includes sign-on payments and RSUs. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
