This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. It includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.
As part of a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, maintainers, and engineers, you will help to enable new spaceflight designs by supporting the production of Metallic Additively Manufactured (AM) components. Our team uses process development, root‑cause analysis, and continuous improvement to drive Blue Origin's mission. We bring new machines, materials, processing methods, and support equipment to a production state.
We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight.
Responsibilities- Understand the AM value stream from start to finish including printing, post‑processing, thermal processing, and inspection
- Research, onboard, and production‑harden new processes and equipment to increase quality, efficiency, and reduce overall cost of the AM work center
- Lead root‑cause investigation of issues with machines and manufacturing, then work with operations, maintenance, and outside vendors to implement solutions
- Bachelor’s or higher in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or a related technical field
- Experience authoring and developing manufacturing processes to improve end products
- Proven background in troubleshooting industrial processes and/or equipment using root‑cause analysis
- Experience working in aerospace or similar fields requiring a QMS or adherence to industry specifications
- 2+ years of professional experience with 3D printing, castings, forgings, and/or welding
- Experience with fabrication methods (e.g., machining, sheet metal, carbon fiber manufacturing, riveting, heat treatment, etc.)
- 3+ years of experience in aerospace, medical device manufacturing or a related field
- Experience with quality management (e.g., AS9100 or ISO 9001)
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma training or certification
